September Chapter Meeting
During this presentation, CSI Memphis will host various representatives from all aspects of the Design and Construction Industry. The panel will be made up of David Bradford, Marshall Kleiser, Manny Dominguez, and Chris McDermott. Each of these individuals has unique experiences in either Municipal Government, Facility Operation, Architectural Design, and Construction.
The panel will discuss the trends in the industry with a focus on the response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Topics of discussion will include best practices in leadership, difficulties of the current problem, and potential solutions. The group will also survey the potential impacts on the industry in the future beyond the pandemic. CSI Memphis invites you to join the discussion from 11:30 AM to 1 PM Central on Thursday, September 10th, 2020.

Meet the Panel
Chris McDermott
Chris is a co-owner at Grinder Haizlip Construction. His many roles include business development, estimating, training, and operations. Prior to landing at GHC in 2000, he worked at FedEx as a project manager in the Properties Division. After graduating from University of Oklahoma with a BS in Civil Engineering, he worked at Black & Veatch (1982-1996) designing large water and wastewater treatment plants in Texas. Chris is a big supporter of Ronald McDonald House, a Leadership Memphis Class of 2003 alumni, father of three, grandfather of three, and has been happily married to Lynn for 34 years. He loves golf, the Cowboys, the Grizz, and his beloved Sooners.
Marshall Kleiser
Marshall is a native Memphian having attended Christian Brothers High School and the University of Memphis for both his BA in Finance and MBA in Marketing. Having worked at ALSAC St. Jude for the last 28 years he has held multiple roles in fundraising and operations. As Senior Director of Facilities for ALSAC St Jude, he is responsible for ALSAC capital & construction projects, property and real estate management, fleet administration, warehouse and mail operations, and office administration. Marshall believes the key to any successful project and operation is transparency, flexibility and surrounding himself with experts. He and his family are very involved in the local soccer scene and spend additional time volunteering at St. Mary’s Soup Kitchen.
Manny Dominguez
Manny Dominguez, Principal and Director of Design for Cooper Carry’s Hospitality Studio, brings talented designers and consultants to collaborate and fully envision creative solutions for clients and cities. His diverse experience in hospitality, mixed-use, convention centers, and office projects helps him to lead and enhance Cooper Carry's design culture. Working with a wide range of clients and cultural traditions, Manny believes that hospitality design is driven by curated moments in order to form a sense of place and create lasting impressions. Having had the opportunity to work on various project types throughout the world, Manny brings valuable knowledge to clients and developers that elevates the guest experience and enhances the lives of the people who live and work in the built environment
David Bradford
David is a native Memphian who has spent the past 19 years working for Smith Seckman Reid (SSR). David is a principal at SSR and is the firm’s Operations Director for their Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Engineering services in Memphis. David is a professional engineer registered in 8 states. David holds an MS and BS in Mechanical Engineering from Mississippi State University. In 2018 David was elected to serve on Shelby County’s board of Commissioners. In this role David is one of thirteen people who oversee the legislative duties for the county. When away from the office, David enjoys spending his time with his twin 6 year olds, David and Ava and his wife Ashley. And on the rare occasion that David finds free time, his other interests include weight training, woodworking, welding, home improvement projects, and Grizzlies basketball.
