Brett Ragsdale and Jason Jackson of brg3s will give a presentation on the University of Tennessee Health Science Center Interprofessional Simulation Center.  This $20 Million, 60,000 sq ft Facility will bring students from all six of UT's colleges to train together with state-of-the-art simulation equipment where they can practice patient encounters.

This latest addition to a medical school campus reinterprets the brutalist, cast-in-place concrete elements and masonry fin walls of the adjacent 1960’s classroom building in a lighter, more-welcoming use of similar materials. Instead of the cavernous entry beneath a heavy concrete overhang, precast concrete panels step back from a three story, light-filled, aluminum and glass curtainwall that forms the front door of the new facility. Red brick, which dominates this historic medical school campus, appears as a floating screen wall revealing the metal skin and structural frame of this 21st Century building. It is a non-traditional use of masonry and, with its suspended, diagonal edge a non-traditional geometry, that foretells the non-traditional functions housed within.
