Innovations In Below Slab Waterproofing Systems Lance Escue and Meridith Escue from M. W. Escue Company, Inc.
August 19, 2010 @ the Racquet Club 5111 Sanderlin Avenue, Memphis 5:30 social, 6:00 dinner, 7:00 program
One hour AIA/CEU/HSW approved learning units are available. The program begins with a historical review of moisture related problems that occur with slab below grade, split slab, and blind side construction. Next is a review of products typically used in these areas. This is followed by a discussion of today’s standards for these materials including a legal and warranty perspective. The next section addresses dealing with these moisture issues and includes a look at the waterproofing products currently available for design and suggestions on standards to be included in the project specifications. The program continues and concludes with a discussion of the importance of peel adhesion to concrete, waterproofing, methane and radon gas barriers and how this important issue is being addressed by manufacturers of waterproofing materials as well as design professionals.
The new peel adhesion technology is an exciting means of maintaining the below grade vapor barrier even if the sub-grade subsides leaving a void under the slab. To learn more about this technology please be sure to attend the dinner meeting and learn how to protect your floor coverings from moisture related problems. |
